Compact Backyard Merbau Deck in Upwey with Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Flow

A compact rear yard in Upwey was transformed with a 20sqm hardwood timber deck built flush with the interior floor for a seamless transition through the existing sliding glass door. Dark-stained Merbau in 90mm boards creates an L-shaped entertaining zone defined by the house walls on two sides. A stainless steel BBQ sits in one corner with a weatherproof power point nearby. An outdoor lounge setting with weather-resistant cushions occupies the other zone. The dark grey painted render of the house walls provides a contemporary backdrop. A single step leads down to the garden.

Scope of Work:

“We chose Tecoma for the views and now we can finally enjoy them properly. The covered deck means we are out there even when it rains. The Merbau looks beautiful and the steel frame disappears into the background.”
