Overview
A small rear courtyard in Mountain Gate was given new life with a compact 14sqm Merbau deck built over existing concrete pavers using an adjustable pedestal system. This avoided excavation and kept costs down. The Merbau boards are oiled in a warm tone highlighting the natural grain. An integrated timber planter box is built into one edge, providing a green border with low-maintenance plants. The compact size makes the deck function as an intimate outdoor room perfectly suited to the courtyard dimensions. A single outdoor chair demonstrates that even a small space feels considered and comfortable when materials and proportions are right.
