Overview
An outdated timber-veneer kitchen in Glen Waverley was transformed into a sleek, contemporary U-shaped layout. The homeowners wanted a minimalist aesthetic with clean lines and a bold accent. Handleless white cabinets with push-to-open mechanisms give unbroken surfaces throughout. A dark reconstituted stone splashback extends from benchtop to the underside of the overheads, creating a dramatic focal wall. A gas cooktop is set into the dark stone benchtop with a statement cylindrical stainless steel rangehood suspended from the ceiling above. A wall oven and microwave are integrated into a tall cabinet on the right wall. LED strip lighting under the overheads illuminates the dark splashback for warm task lighting. The floor is dark grey porcelain tile.
Completed in 5 weeks. The dark splashback against white cabinets creates a striking focal point. The handleless push-to-open drawers are a favourite with the whole household.
