Overview

Vermont Home Extension – Light-Filled Dining Room with Garden Views

This Vermont home had a small, enclosed dining room with a single window. The homeowners loved their established garden but could not enjoy it from inside. We pushed the rear wall out by 3.5 metres, replacing it with floor-to-ceiling aluminium-framed windows on three sides. Corner glazing wraps around two walls, immersing the dining space in garden views. An existing internal brick wall was stripped back and left exposed as a feature, connecting the new space to the character of the original home. The ceiling retains the original ornate plasterwork, blending old and new. Full-length linen curtains soften the glazing. The floor is large-format white porcelain tile that reflects light into the room.

Scope of Work:

“Our house went from dark and cramped to light and open. The skylights were a game-changer. We live in the new extension now and the old part of the house is just bedrooms.”
